Marching Band 2020 Information

**Due to the "Shelter in Place" mandates, we will be holding virtual auditions this year. Please see the step-by-step instructions on the video audition process below**

2020 Drumline/Front Ensemble Audition Procedures

Batterie

Step 1- Open the Batterie Audition Checklist 

• Check out the video audition example below!

Step 2- Find a comfortable height for your practice pad

• Setting your practice pad (or whatever you are playing on) on top of a table/stand/ or anything that would make it easy for you to play while standing up.

Step 3- Set up your phone/camera to record your audition

• Ideally each video will be recorded with your entire self in the video frame.
• This will allow us to see how you mark time with each exercise.

Step 4- Set your metronome to the correct tempo for the exercise

• Please make sure that we can hear the metronome

Step 5- Play the snare part for each exercise 

• Play only the exercises/excerpts listed in the audition checklist
• **Please refer often to Jakob's example audition tape for what an ideal audition should look like**

​Step 6- Submit your audition video in the Drumline/Front Ensemble Information Form by May 5th, 2020

Front Ensemble

Step 1- Open the Front Ensemble Audition Checklist

• Example audition video coming soon!

Step 2- Set up your phone/camera to record your audition

• Each mallet should be clearly visible in the video audition.

Step 3- Set your metronome to the correct tempo for the exercise

• Please make sure that we can hear the metronome

Step 4- Play the Marimba part for each exercise.

• Please play all rhythms on the floor. (We are looking for perfect stroke approach)
• If you are auditioning for SYNTH only you may choose to play the synth parts on a piano
• If you are auditioning for RACK only you may choose to play the batterie audition
• Make sure you are sitting with good “floor work posture”
• Play only the exercises/excerpts listed in the audition checklist
• **Please refer often to Mr. Bickwit's example audition tape for what an ideal audition should look like**
